If you are like me you love to learn new things. I feel as if I always have to get my learn on and my setting up an iGoogle homepage it allows me to do that. My iGoogle page is full of blog postings from others as well as my Google Reader as well as picture of the day from National Geographic. I use my iGoogle page to help organize my life, to learn and to get inspired. My iGoogle homepage helps me with not only my professional teaching career but my personal life as well. Take a look and I encourage you to set up your own if you haven’t already.
In my classroom I/We use Google daily and not just to search. It is amazing the things you can do. My students feel empowered to keep and update a calendar with important dates and time for them… including homework 🙂 I actually required that all my students have a Google account. They must update and maintain their calendars and have a professional email address. Of course they love iGoogle because you can play games, read blogs, quick view their calendars, and of course, through Google Chrome, they can play Angry Birds (not at school of course). I love everything that Google has to offer and I hope to one day became a Google Certified Instructor!!!! If you are a teacher and want to learn more about Google Apps and their use in the classroom you can visit:

Now, how are you using Google in your classroom?
So many people want to share valuable information on the web and they do it through things called “blogs”. The word blog comes from we”b-log”. Some people may use their blog like a diary of sorts while others use it as a way to communicating BURSTS of information that they want to share with the world. I personally like to read technology blogs. As we all know technology changes so quickly and I find that this is the only way that I can keep up with the fast changes that happen. So here’s the question, How do I read all of the blogs?
I like to use my http://www.iGoogle.com page. If you do not have a iGoogle account just go to http://www.google.com and click on “sign-in” to create a google account and follow the directions on setting up your iGoogle page. It is very easy but I must warn you…. once you get started you may find yourself sucked in for a while 🙂 One you create your page you will see a link in the upper right corner that says “add gadget”. Do a search and add the Google Reader gadget to your iGoogle page. After you have inserted your Google Reader Gadget just click on it and it will open Google Reader. You will notice there is an “Add Subscription” link in the upper left corner. Finally you just past the URL (web address) of the blog that you would like to follow! DONE!!! Give it a try and let me know what you think.
