Class Management / Messaging Websites

  • Edmodo (www.edmodo.com)
    • A school friendly social media site not only for submitting assignments, polling students, backchanneling course lectures, and as a great resource for your teacher’s professional learning network!
  • Google Voice (www.google.com/voice)
    • Let’s face it, sometimes as a teacher we have to give students/parents a cell phone number, especially when we go on overnight trips. If you are like me you don’t want to give them your personal cell phone number. The way Google voice works is that you get a phone number, you give that number to who you want. Then you can then tell Google voice what to do when people call you. During a trip I’ll have those numbers forward to my cell phone but when I return I’ll have Google Voice forward those numbers to my work number. You can tell Google what to do with which phone number or group of numbers.
